Location: DOC Headquarters - North Little Rock
The mission of the Department of Corrections is to be a public safety resource for Arkansas families by providing professional management solutions and evidence-based rehabilitative initiatives for offenders.All DOC positions are designated as Safety Sensitive Positions and are subject to random drug testing pursuant to the Secretarial Directive governing Personnel Drug Testing. Medical marijuana usage, as defined in Amendment 93 of the Arkansas Constitution, prohibits Personnel in a Safety-Sensitive Position from the use of medical marijuana even if they are qualifying patient under the amendment and/or hold a registry identification card. Department Personnel are prohibited from the use or possession of a medicinal marijuana card pursuant to this policy and state law.

Summary
The DOC Assistant Director of Correctional Programs and Reentry administers the Department of Correction's programs for inmates and reentry processes.
Functions
The DOC Assistant Director for Correctional Programs and Reentry uses knowledge of cognitive-behavioral strategies, reintegration barriers, evidence-based practices, and core correctional practices to implement programs and reentry strategies. The holder of this position must understand the risks, needs, responsivity model of correctional interventions. He or she must be able to implement evidence-based interventions across prisons, centers, and community supervision offices. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of treatment/programming in a correctional setting and cognitive behavioral strategies.
Knowledge of agency, community, and state mental health resources/programs.
Knowledge of supervisory and organizational practices and procedures.
Knowledge of requirements of licensure for treatment programs.
Ability to monitor the fidelity of evidence-based programs once implemented and implement programmatic changes.
Ability to research, analyze, and interpret scientific literature.
Ability to communicate information and ideas in verbal and written formats.
Ability to establish metrics and collect data.
Ability to evaluate and monitor data collection efforts and quality.
Minimum Qualifications
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in criminology, sociology, psychology, or a related field; plus, four years of experience in treatment for justice involved individuals, including two years in a supervisory capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management.
