Job Description

- Makes rounds throughout the hospital to retrieve records from patient care areas.
- Follows accurate document preparation procedures, ensuring all documents belong to the correct patient, and identify documents that do not require scanning. Scans medical records, loose material, raw data, etc. for inclusion in the electronic health record according to established quality assurance procedures and guidelines. Monitors the imaging system for scanning errors and verifies documents are correct and legible once scanned.
- Indexes medical records, loose material, raw data, etc. for inclusion in the electronic health record according to established quality assurance procedures and guidelines. Supports quality assurance by auditing scanned batches to verify documents belong to the correct patient, ensure clarity of image, and that the correct Doc Types were assigned.
- Downloads/converts documents for importing.
- Maintains scanning equipment to ensure clarity of images, and scan documents according to procedures.
- Performs all tasks within defined expectations for productivity and quality, to ensure the integrity of the legal medical record.
- Picks up, delivers, sorts, and distributes interdepartmental mail.
- Retrieves discharged Inpatient charts from the Inpatient Units as needed.
- Enters Release of Information telephone requests.
- Troubleshoots MyChart issues with parents and patients.
- Responsible for cross-training peers.
- Problem solves network issues with IT, Hyland, and Epic Teams.
Overview
The Document Imaging Specialist I will perform all aspects of the Document Imaging functions for the legal medical record to include scanning/importing medical records, loose material, raw data, etc. for inclusion in the electronic health record according to established quality assurance procedures and guidelines.
**This position is ON-SITE in Baltimore, Maryland.

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED is required.
EXPERIENCE:
One year of experience in the Health Information Management field is preferred.
