Department Overview:
The DoIT Metrics and Data Analytics (MDA) team works with other DoIT teams to identify data, metrics, and benchmarks to report on as a best practice for DoIT services. The MDA team produces real-time dashboards in Tableau and publishes the DoIT Operations Report, which aggregates data from multiple sources to provide a holistic view of DoIT services and service operations.
The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) provides technology services to serve the administrative, academic, and research needs of students, departments, and faculty/staff on the UW Madison and UW System campuses. The MDA team resides within the User Services department of DoIT.Anticipated Start Date:

Ability to work independently to prioritize and complete projects
Ability to work 10-15 hours per week during the school year

Ability to work independently to prioritize and complete projects
Experience with IT Service Desk metrics is a plus
Data cleanup and visualization experience preferred; Tableau experience is a plusPosition Summary/Job Duties:
80% - Visualization and Administration
Become a subject matter expert for Tableau and data visualization
Maintain and improve existing dashboards and reports
Identify opportunities for new dashboards and uses for data
Regularly meet with Team Leadership to ensure data needs are being met
Manage other projects as they arise
15% - Training and Documentation
Create and maintain the Data & Metrics Team’s documentation
Help to train new student employees into this role
5% - Professional Development
Professional development varies by individual but will ensure you have time to continue to grow your skills
This position will collaborate with other Data & Metrics Student Employees and help improve existing visualizations, create new reports as needed, and use WiscIT and various other data sources to extract data. These students have the opportunity to build on their analytical, design, and communication skills while engaging with Tableau and the staff of DoIT.
This position reports to the Data & Metrics Specialist and students in this role will start at $15 an hour with progression available.Physical Demands:
