- Ability to obtain and review information from record drawings, files, survey notes, photos, and AutoCAD forms in alignment with drafting standards.
- Create As-Built drawings using AutoCAD, from survey data, inspector notes, and collected GPS points and redline drawings.
- Create alignments for Asset Recording group (ARG) to accomplish work effort for posting to asset mapping.
- Perform design and drafting related activities including project layout/plotting sheets set plans.
- Maintain active communication with inspectors, engineers, and surveyors, for any CAD production issues.
- Perform research, observation, audits, drafting/support tasks of specialized assigned projects.
- Perform related work as required.
- Obtain and review information from record drawings, digital information, survey notes, photos, and AutoCAD files. Make field trips necessary to obtain locations and take measurements and photographs to revise drawings, maps, and projects proposed improvements, and layout construction plans and working drawings.
- Plan projects, develop and implement programs, and maintain records pertaining to a particular functional area of the department.
- Develop detailed drawings for water conveyance structures, pump stations, reservoir and dams, mechanical systems, pipelines, electrical systems, treatment process, reinforced concrete, and steel structures, and recreational facilities, from engineer provided design notes, field notes, and digital information.
- Provide AutoCAD drawings for construction projects while adhering to established milestone schedules and Denver Water AutoCAD and drafting standards.
- Prepare contract and permitting documents indicating property lines, building locations, rights-of-way, utilities, paving, lighting plans, and other installations and facilities.
- Create alignments for Asset Recording group (ARG) to accomplish work effort for posting to asset mapping. Coordinate processes and standards between GIS (ArcMap) and AutoCAD.
- Perform quality control of work product for AutoCAD and drafting standards and development of conformed drawings.
- Maintain, assist, review, and coordinate active communication with Engineers, Surveyors, Construction Inspectors, Consultants, and Contractors for any design and AutoCAD and drafting Standards issues.
- Associate Degree from an accredited college or university or 2 years training from a technical college in computer-aided design and drafting (CADD).
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in CAD/GIS engineering, construction, drafting and or surveying work.
- Minimum of 4 years’ responsible experience in CAD/GIS engineering, construction, drafting and or surveying work. – Drafter Only
- Water main and infrastructure design experience preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.

Position Summary
Under general supervision, perform drafting/technical support duties using AutoCAD (CAD) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Ability to create detailed computerized engineering construction drawings, maps, and plans and profiles. Prepare technical drawings, using Autodesk Civil 3D, that depict distribution main engineering designs and as-built drawings. Distribution main designs are prepared from survey data in support of the Main Replacement program, producing plans for permitting and construction by Denver Water crews. As-built drawings are prepared from survey data, inspector notes, collected GPS points and redline drawings. Distribution drafters shall have a working knowledge of main water designs including pipe, valves, and fittings, and permitting practices.
