Anglo American Steelmaking Coal
Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

Job Description

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will deliver best practice mining engineering and support to Dawson Mine Technical Services in supporting Zero Harm by ensuring compliance with all safety systems and legislation.

As a Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of drilling, loading and initiation plans in line with the short term mine plan and integrate this work with other planning and operational areas. With the support of the planning team, you will be required to actively engage with the production team to communicate these designs and plans to ensure that the drill & blast processes are optimised in order to continuously increase operational efficiency.

Qualifications

You will be a tertiary qualified Mining Engineer and ideally a strong background in drill & blast. Proficiency in Deswik, and BlastLogic software will be well regarded. Strong communication skills and a well-developed analytical approach will be key to your success in this role.
