- Maintain and develop corporate technical standards for well construction design and operations in accordance with international technical, safety and environmental practices and standards.
- Arrange, organize and participate in technical reviews in the gated well delivery process for Repsol projects.
- Validate well design options and the basis of design for the chosen option, in accordance with established standards, safe practices, risk analysis, legislation and respect for the environment.
- Validate independently the well construction and abandonment programs, taking into consideration the associated emergency-response plans.
- Validate necessary actions for managing changes in the well project, endorsement for Management of Change.
- Validate and qualify technical specifications for supporting the process of purchasing materials and services.
- Validate the time and cost estimates for wells projects in accordance with established standards. Advise on key performance issues or challenges, and related resourcing needs as needed.
- Advise during troubleshooting events on well drilling activities as requested by the project team.
- Advise on validity of data/information from analogous drilling considerations.
- Support the lessons learned knowledge transfer across the company.
- Effectively utilize networks, experience, and external resources to advise team of key risks, risk management considerations, or key performance enhancement aspects in design and execution.
- Provide emergency response planning support for Relief Well Planning, Cap and Containment.
- Effectively contribute to corporate workflow development in well construction and related disciplines.
- When requested, monitor & support the drilling program, advise on enhancements and clear definition during its implementation.
- Support local teams during design and execution of wells, including interpretation of standards and expert advice.
- Keep up to date on the latest developments in drilling engineering and technology via various sources such as equipment vendor workshops, technology forums, SPE and API, industry publications, etc.
- Full US work authorization, without limitations, conditional requirements, or sponsorship required, now or in the future.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Petroleum Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Valid Medical certifications (e.g. Fit To Work and required vaccinations).
- 15+ years’ experience in wells design and operations is essential.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Teams).
- Spotfire, Landmark EDM suite (Compass, Casing Seat, Stresscheck, Wellcat, and Well plan, OpenWells).
- Exposure to all elements of drilling engineering design and operations.
- Strong skills well design, risk and uncertainty management.
- Extensive experience in well control management, including well control certificate (IWCF level 4 certification).
- Experience with offshore (subsea, dry tree) and onshore operations.
- Experience with well drilling engineering studies, includes metallurgy selection, casing design, annulus pressure build-up analysis, hydraulic and torque & drag analysis.
- Experience with exploration, appraisal and development drilling projects.
- Experience with well accessibility, tie-back and slot recovery operations.
- Experience with field development projects.
- Experience with abandonment operations.
- Experience with managed pressure drilling (MPD) and pressurized mud cap drilling (PMCD) system.
- Experience with drilling extended reach wells.
- Excellent written and oral command of the English language is essential.
