      Job Description:

      The individual in this role will manage all of the activities in the Intermountain Drug Information Center including formulary management, medication shortages, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee support, clinical inquiry, adverse drug event reporting, and medication use evaluation. The individual in this role will have precepting responsibilities for pharmacy residents and students and will contribute to the professional development program for pharmacists and technicians.

      This position will work normal business hours, Mon-Fri, 8 AM to 5 PM. This is a remote position.

      Scope

      This is a system-wide role that will support the drug information needs, formulary management strategies and tactics, and other system-wide initiatives aimed at improving medication use. The individual in this role will report to the Medication Policy and Outcomes Director.

      Job Essentials

      System-wide responsibility for the strategic vision, goals and initiatives associated with medication policy and drug information for the pharmacy division.
      Directs and evaluates the work of assigned employees
      Participates in synthesizing patient-specific or situation-specific responses to drug information requests in an accurate and timely manner
      Develops tactics to best support the Clinical Programs
      Establishes relationships with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and support them in their functional roles
      Oversees and participates in promoting and maintaining the Intermountain Healthcare Formulary of Accepted Drugs via ongoing professional interactions with the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee members and via ongoing educational efforts directed at physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals
      Oversees and participates in the development of system policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to medication management, medication safety, and formulary management
      Actively participates in committees and work groups as assigned
      Prepares and/or edits formulary, monographs and therapeutic class reviews
      Assists in activities relating to the ongoing revision, publication, and distribution of the Intermountain Healthcare Formulary of Accepted Drugs
      Prepares newsletter content as assigned
      Serves as a preceptor for PharmD students, residents, and staff
      Participates in educational conferences as appropriate
      Participates in initiatives designed to change prescribing behaviors of providers
      Completes all operational responsibilities of the drug information center (DIC)
      Oversees the medication use evaluation program
      Oversees and participates in medication safety initiatives, adverse drug event reporting program and the pharmaceutical outcomes management program.
      Oversees the management of medication shortages as assigned.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and an advanced degree from an accredited institution or a doctor of pharmacy. (Degree will be verified)
      • License to practice pharmacy and dispense controlled substances in the State of Utah.
      • Completion of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy practice residency.
      • Five years of clinical pharmacy practice experience.
      • Previous work experience in a drug information center.
      • Significant formulary management, medication safety, and medication utilization experience.
      • Experience in a role requiring excellent communication (written and verbal), planning, prioritization, and execution skills with a strong service orientation.
      • Experience in a role requiring the demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
      • Experience in a role requiring skills related to balancing clinical, regulatory and financial goals and outcomes and collaborating with all levels within an organization.
      • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail and scheduling applications.
      • Must be able to work with physicians, nurses, other pharmacists, one-on-one and in group meetings.
      • Proven ability to manage complex projects.


      Preferred Qualifications

      • Advanced degree as a PharmD, Master of Business Administration, or Master of Health Administration.
      • Board certification by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties.
      • Completion of an ASHP-accredited Drug Information Practice Residency Program.
      • Experience in a role requiring system level project management responsibilities.
      • Previous experience in an integrated healthcare delivery system.

      Physical Requirements:

      The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

      $67.94 - $99.83
