- Data analysis, strategic planning, and reporting as part of program evaluation or continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Engagement or collaboration with Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals and communities , with an emphasis on culturally and linguistically affirmative services.
- Cross-agency coordination or community member engagement , such as convening diverse community partners, service providers, or state/local agencies to work toward a common service delivery goal.
- Community education, outreach, or training , particularly related to newborn hearing screening, family support services, language assessment, education/sharing out research-based best practices.
- Policy, system design, or program development work that addresses access to services for marginalized or underserved communities, especially within a state government or public health framework.
Relevant years of State service should be considered as a preferred qualification to be used to determine the top candidates on the referral list. (Partnership agreement 10.1.)
- Standard Background Check and reference checks.
- Travel- 20% minimum travel requirement, some responsibilities may require more as business needs arise. Noting for community relations, in-person outreach can greatly exceed this minimum expectation and be closer to 40%. Attend community engagement events / activities, community meetings, training, strategic planning sessions, and conferences in-person per business needs and to positively represent the Department / unit and efforts.
- Special Qualifications - ASL proficiency (converse with all DHHDB community members, review ASL media) or ability to become proficient within 2 years from hire.
In-depth knowledge of Early Hearing Detection and Intervention systems. Flexibility to be on call or adjust work schedules for business needs. Proficiency with software (word processing, spreadsheets, slides/presentations), meeting platforms, and communication tools utilized by state agencies.
This position is designed as hybrid; employees must maintain a home office, internet, and phone access to required job duties or report to the office. Knowledge of the deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind communities. Knowledge of applicable laws with respect to effective access to communication and/or environment.
Excellent written and expressive communication skills. Ability to interact with individuals from various backgrounds, cultures, communication preferences, skill levels in order to provide direct and effective communication. Experience with outreach, including giving presentations, tabling, and building professional networks.- Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must (1) disclose that information on the application (2) provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position, (3) provide the employee number from the applicant’s prior State employment. Opt in below to receive text message updates on CDHS recruiting events!About the Unit:The staff of the Colorado Division for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind (CDDHHDB) runs multiple programs within the Communications Services for People with Disabilities (CSPD) Enterprise. The Enterprise is a business structure that is supported by the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS). Each member of the Division contributes to the coordination of internal and external activities that achieve the goals and objectives as set by the CSPD Enterprise.
The Colorado Legislature created CDDHHDB in 2000 to fulfill the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, 42 U.S.C. Sec. 12101, requirement to ensure equitable access for deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind (DHHDB) people and to provide a central point of contact within the State for DHHDB individuals in need of services. The mission of the Division is to create a barrier-free Colorado.
As outlined by statutory requirements, the Division provides the following essential programs, resources, and services, including but not limited to:This position is hybrid with a minimum of two (2) days in the office per week.
The role may involve travel within the state for meetings and community engagement activities.
Summary of the position:For the 2024-2029 cycle of the Health Services Resource Administration (HRSA) EHDI grant, the COEHDI Coordinator position works closely with the COEHDI Director and principal investigators at CDHS and CDEC, as well as grant contractors. The EHDI Coordinator works closely with the Colorado EHDI Alliance as well as other invested partners in the Colorado EHDI system.

Experience Only:
Seven (7) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position. This experience should be related to early hearing detection & intervention field (e.g., hearing screening, diagnosis/identification, early intervention, language assessments, teaching, research, etc.); working with system partners towards addressing system gaps; establishing and maintaining relationships with families of deaf and hard of hearing individuals; identifying system gaps and how best to direct grant funding towards addressing those gaps.

Education and Experience:
A combination of related education in Deaf Education, Special Education with a focus on deaf or deafblindness, Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, or Deaf Studies and/or relevant experience working in e ducation, training and experience should be related to deafblind programs, including community intervener and/or support services provider or orientation & mobility programs. Specific experience in the early hearing detection & intervention field (e.g., hearing screening, diagnosis/identification, early intervention, language assessments, teaching, research, etc.); working with system partners towards addressing system gaps; establishing and maintaining relationships with families of deaf and hard of hearing individuals; identifying system gaps and how best to direct grant funding towards addressing those gaps equal to seven (7) years.
