Job Title: Head Custodian – Elementary School Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports to: Custodial Foreman Pay Grade: 5
Dept. /School: Facilities Days: 247
Primary Purpose:
To provide a safe, clean, attractive and efficiently maintained building for students, and teachers to learn and develop scholastically.
Qualifications:
To demonstrate the aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned responsibilities
Experience: 2 to 5 years’ experience as a custodian
Reports to: Custodial Foreman
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
· Directs and oversees responsibilities for other custodians
· Has responsibility for opening and closing the building, controlling the temperature in the building, and for the general cleanliness of the building
· Instructing custodial staff in the use of equipment, chemicals, and materials
· Responsible for training and evaluating their building custodial staff
· Assist in developing work and time schedules for custodians
· Assume responsibility for care and condition of equipment
· Assume responsibility for ordering and maintaining an inventory of custodian and housekeeping supplies and materials
· Perform inspections of building conditions and reports to the principal or supervisor
· Assume responsibility for directing minor building repairs – (mechanical, electrical, carpentry or other)
· Responsible for cleaning a portion of the building, the same as a regular custodian
· Perform other duties as assigned
