Department Overview:
The Department of Economics is looking for a graduate student intern to work in our Economics Career Development Office (ECDO) this summer as a career advisor. Under the guidance of the ECDO Director, you would mentor and guide undergraduate economics students, to help them navigate the professional world and the job/internship search process.
Professional work experience and/or advising experience or training preferred but not required. An economics background could be helpful but is not necessary. Training provided!Anticipated Start Date:

Anticipated Hours Per Week:
Minimum: 20 Maximum: 30 Schedule:
Set your schedule Monday - Thursday with the possibility for some remote days. You must be available to work throughout the summer from May 12-Aug 29. Vacations and days off are totally fine throughout the summer and should just be coordinated ahead of time. This role would be for the summer with the possibility of extending into the academic year if there is interest from the employee in continuing on and if the department's budget allows. Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

1 Qualifications:
• Must be an accepted or enrolled graduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
• Preference to applicants who have already completed at least one internship or professional work experience (in any area or with any type of organization) so that you have first-hand experience navigating the job/internship search process.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Must have a professional demeanor and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
• Must be a self-starter with a strong attention to detail and an enthusiasm for helping studentsPosition Summary/Job Duties:
Specific duties include:
• In 1:1 virtual or in-person appointments, help students with general cover letter, resume and internship application questions
• Assist students with locating information for internships and part-time professional work
• Review student resumes and respond to questions via email
• Other duties as assigned
