      This specific co-op opening in HDR’s Economics, Finance and Statistics group will provide you with opportunities to be involved in many of HDR’s market sectors and learn from HDR’s top economists, statisticians, engineers and scientists.

      Student will develop 1. research and writing skills, 2. programming skills to support statistical analysis, 3. statistical analysis (inferential, regression modelling, survey data analysis, etc.), 4. spreadsheet skills to support economic cost-benefit analyses, 5. business skills and office protocols for effective collaboration with project managers and team members.

      In the role of Statistics Co-op, we'll count on you to:

      • Collect and analyze data; Merge, wrangle, and analyze large data sets using various other statistical programs such as R or SPSS or office tools such as MS Excel.
      • Conduct independent research on a variety of topics
      • Apply standard statistical and economics techniques and procedures
      • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of other economists and statisticians
      • Perform other duties as needed
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Statistics, Economics or related program
      • Prefer 2 years completed towards degree with 3.0+ GPA
      • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
      • Background in statistics and programmatic coding
      • Must be adept at working within a team environment

      Required Qualifications
      • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
      • Attention to detail
      • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
      • Basic Microsoft Office skills
      • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
