      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Code at 95% or above accuracy for specialized services including inpatient, outpatient, and complex surgical coding
      - Abstract information from patient medical records to assign correct codes and ensure compliance with billing regulations
      - Monitor activity for compliance with federal and state coding laws and guidelines
      - Coordinate patient encounter billing information and ensure accuracy before submission
      - Serve as a resource for coding leadership and provide training and support to coding staff

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - High school diploma or GED
      - Minimum of 4 years of professional or hospital experience in coding with ICD-10-CM or CPT
      - Certification in coding from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, RHIA, RHIT, CCS)
      - Active AHIMA membership may be required for some positions
      - Must pass an internal coding test to qualify as a Level 3 coder

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Accredited Coding Program, Associate's or Bachelor's Degree; Specialized Coding Credential
      - Knowledge of OPPS guidelines and both CPT inpatient and outpatient coding guidelines
      - Familiarity with medical necessity guidelines and experience using an EMR
      - Some college coursework related to anatomy/physiology and medical terminology
