Position Summary:
Provides assistance to the medical and nursing staff in giving direct patient care. Provides technical services as assigned and directed. Attends nursing station and performs clerical and reception duties. Requisitions supplies, equipment, and services as directed.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education: High school or equivalent
Preferred Experience: EMT or CNA
One-year previous clinical experience in area of expertise or
Licensed paramedic with a minimum of 1 year runtime experience, preferably current
Required Training Course(s): CPR certification
Skills: Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical terminology
Proper telephone etiquette
Basic computer skills
Ability to perform detailed assignments
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to effectively communicate with patients, hospital staff, and visitors
Physical Demands: Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
Prolonged extensive or considerable standing/walking
Considerably heavy lifting, e.g., lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers supplies and equipment
Working Conditions: The Emergency Department can, and often is, a fast paced and demanding work environment that requires the ability to multitask, think quickly, and work effectively as a critical team member. Employees will be:
§ Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
§ Have contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
§ May be exposed to patient elements
§ Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, and illness)
§ Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
§ Required to handle emergency or crisis situations
§ Subject to irregular hours
