      About the Role

      This role is part of the Books Editorial Projects Management (BEPM) that provides operational project management support to manage our titles and books portfolio through the publication process. We’re looking to recruit an energetic and highly organized graduate as an Editorial Assistant to support our Research Publishing editorial teams in Sciences and Technology based out of our New Delhi office.

      The Editorial Assistant provides a vital role in supporting the Editorial team by ensuring that our authors receive a high quality of service, that our books are published to the highest standards, driving our authors satisfaction and reputation as a market and thought leader while we operate on highly efficient workflows.

      As well as providing core support to the Editorial teams, the role involves building excellent working relationships with internal teams such as production, and day-to-day administration.

      Responsibilities

      • Database and systems management
      • Handle one or more series independently
      • Handle a wide range of editorial tasks including contracting, peer review process, manuscript development and handover to production, and post-publication tasks
      • Liaise with authors/editors to manage the content development from signing to publication
      • Advice authors/editors on procedures, house style, and manuscript preparation for in-house titles
      • As part of pipeline management, liaise with production and vendors in ensuring that the titles are published as per agreed deadlines
      • Liaise with colleagues in different Centers of Excellence, Open Access, Editorial Rights, Author Services on a routine basis


      Experience, skills and qualifications

      • Experience from a professional activity in editorial/publishing or university degree, preferably in a relevant field of study
      • Have excellent team-working skills to deal with people within the company and externally at all levels
      • Be a diplomatic and assertive individual who is able to work with demanding stakeholders
      • Be able to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and be able to work on their own initiative
      • Be resourceful and proactive in dealing with problems and queries
      • Be able to demonstrate good publishing business awareness and the ability to learn quickly
      • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be numerate and IT systems-literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with a sharp eye for detail
      • Preferably have experience working in academic publishing in an entry-level editorial role
      • Fluency in English, both verbal and written
