      As an EDS Engineer, you will be an active JLR Engineering “Design and Release” team member, working with pioneering brands and products. You will be responsible for technically leading the design and development activities of on-engine electrical harness components supporting our engine manufacturing plant.

      Delivering plans with clear direction and demonstrating a clear appreciation of attributes and program deliverables on quality, cost, weight, and function are critical aspects of an EDS Engineer.

      Key accountabilities and responsibilities

      The engineer will be assigned responsibility for low-voltage electrical harnesses. For those components/sub-systems, they will be responsible for the following where applicable:

      • Ownership of core Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), including related documents (e.g., boundary and interface analysis)
      • Sourcing, verification, release, delivery, and launch plans in place and reported weekly
      • To manage product development processes and deliver according to the component creation and delivery system (CCDS) on engine systems and components
      • To lead and coordinate cross-functional CCDS team including purchasing, design, validation, STA, supplier, and manufacturing to ensure all APQP deliverables are fulfilled with agreed status by the CCDS team
      • Delivery to the programme gateways by achieving quality, cost, timing, function, and weight requirements

      WHAT YOU'LL NEED

      • Good technical understanding of Electrical Harness design and operating principles
      • Experience in managing the resolution of business, technical, and process issues within a Project Team environment, including with Tier 1 suppliers
      • Ability to communicate and report component/system design and delivery status to the Chief Engineer
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing, presentation, and reporting skills to support supplier and management reviews
