      The Online Learning and Educational Resources Branch, within the Services and Technology Division in the Ministry of Education and Child Care, provides two key and critical services: Online Learning for K-12 and Open School BC for development and delivery of e-learning services, digital and print content, and award-winning multimedia.

      Online learning is a method of teaching students outside of traditional schools using online and other electronic delivery methods to increase student access, choice, and flexibility to improve student success. The Online Learning program area is responsible for developing and implementing policy, collaborating with the education sector, and ensuring equity of access to high quality online learning for students in B.C.

      The Online Learning team supports the implementation of the Online Learning Policy that includes the following areas: Provincial Online Learning Schools, District Online Learning Schools, the Accountability and Quality Assurance framework and process, and the provincial learning management system (Brightspace).

      Provides advice and recommendations to senior management on the implementation of emerging online learning programs, policy, and legislative initiatives. The position is responsible to lead or facilitate implementation and program delivery with internal and external partners, to define program area goals and objectives. The position also is responsible to lead or facilitate online learning collaboration, deliverables, communication plans, and performance measures.

      Leads and participates in consultations with partners to identify issues related to the development and implementation of online learning programs, defines online learning policies and priorities, identifies partner preferences, and resolves issues.

      Job Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education or a related field AND a minimum of two (2) years of *related experience; OR
      • An equivalent combination of education and *related experience may be considered.
        Please note: If your Post-Secondary credentials were obtained from outside of Canada, you may be required to provide documentation of your completed formal credential transfer evaluation (e.g. World Education Services).

      *Related experience must include three (3) or more of the following:

      • Experience in the development of policy, guidelines, or legislation.
      • Experience in planning and coordinating complex large-scale projects/assignments and independently managing projects.
      • Experience maintaining effective relationships with internal or external partners .
      • Experience selecting, managing, and leading professional teams comprised of internal or external partners.
      • Experience with online instructional design.
      • Experience within K-12 teaching environments.

      Preference may be given to applicants with:

      • Graduate level degree in Education, Online Learning, or other relevant area.
      • Experience with online learning teaching and/or administration.
      • Experience in online learning facilitation using a learning management system.
      • Experience teaching with Brightspace.

      Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 4 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Victoria has two building locations, both with space to accommodate in-office work. The Vancouver office may be accessed for limited drop-in use.
