POSITION SUMMARY:
The Education & Learning Coordinator serves as the representative for SJHH in relations between St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and external educational institutions, including the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at McMaster University and Mohawk College. The Education & Learning Coordinator leads projects to improve upon or involving the relationship between the organizations; managing the employee requirements of learners at SJHH. The Education & Learning Coordinator will also be cross-trained in simulations and provide guidance on virtual reality (VR) simulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• College diploma (3-year) in a related field required
• Undergraduate Degree preferred
• Minimum one year relevant experience in an academic health sciences centreRESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide oversight to learner administration and partner with the University/College teams to provide advocacy for learners at St. Joe’s
• Works collaboratively with the VP Education, Executive Education Committee, Education Operations Committee, SJHH Staff, McMaster University, Mohawk College and other educational organizations to deliver improvements where required for learner’s needs and enhancing SJHH as a premier educational partner.
• Provide direction and support for undergraduate and postgraduate clinical and non-clinical learners and ensuring the SJHH educational mandate is achieved.
• Cross-trained in onboarding of learners and education/training requirements (management of on-call rooms, on-call stipends, lockers, etc.).
• Responsibilities include responding to placement requests in HSPnet, coordinating learner onboarding in NirvSystem, and ensuring a smooth and efficient onboarding experience for all learners.
• The role also includes assisting with other learner onboarding activities as required, such as triaging and redirecting email inquiries and assigning lockers upon request.
• Assists with the development of processes promoting staff participation in education and promoting affiliation with academic organizations, data analysis and subsequent reporting.
• Provide support to Manager, Academic Operations & Student Affairs in policy-based training for all learners.
• Staff are encouraged to participate in activities with other organizations and with the community in promoting SJHH as a leader in education.
• Provide support to the Manager, Academic Operations & Student Affairs in enhancing partnership with academic organizations and with SJHH staff through operationalizing initiatives/ideas that arise.
• Be a collaborative and positive representative of SJHH in learner matters.
• Assist with projects involving physicians/residents and medical learners.
• Assist with projects involving nursing, clinical and non-clinical learners.
• Collaborates and works with the Manager, Academic Operations & Student Affairs in ensuring learners are onboarded and collaborations between SJHH and academic institutions are maintained.
• Collaborate closely with the Manager of Learning and Instructional Design to coordinate learner training initiatives.
• Work with the Digital Solutions Service Desk team to address technical issues during the onboarding process.
• Serve as a liaison between the education department and technical support.
• Work closely with the RFS Administrator to track and manage requests related to technical issues encountered during onboarding.
• Identify patterns and trends in technical challenges that may require intervention or system improvements.
• Extensively use NirvSystem to facilitate learner onboarding, ensuring that technical problems are addressed promptly and that the onboarding process remains functional
• Promotes knowledge sharing and manages knowledge and communication tools such as the SharePoint based MyStJoes and MyCollaboration sites to support the education mandate.
• Consolidates various learning and performance support tools to ensure a coordinated ecosystem for Learning within the hospital.
• Support in developing memos and communication to SJHH staff and academic partners
• Assist in developing metrics and/or measurements that link the development, management and integration of projects and programs and services related to the implementation of the Learners strategic and operational plans
