The Education Services Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to provide leadership and support in the provision of educational services to children enrolled in Head Start in accordance with the School Readiness Plan, Head Start Performance Standards, Texas Minimum Standards for Licensed Child Care Centers, Hidalgo County Civil Service Commission Rules, the Hidalgo County Head Start Program Policies and Procedures, and the Texas Education Agency Regulations.Assists with the implementation of the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) and the Practice Based Coaching Model to improve staff and children’s performance.
Assists in the collection, analysis, provision and use of data for the improvement of the performance of the teaching staff and the children.
Schedules and conducts campus and classroom observations to assist campus directors and teachers in the areas of need identified through CLASS and children’s performance data.
Assists with the provision of staff development/training sessions to meet staff needs as defined in the Professional Growth Plan.
Conducts CLASS observations as needed.
Provides leadership, support and technical assistance to the campus directors and teaching staff in the design and implementation of the Early Childhood Development Program.
Ensures that the program adheres to the Head Start Performance Standards and to the Child Care Regulation Licensing Minimum Standards.
Assists the Education Area Directors in planning, coordinating and conducting an annual staff development program for program staff, school district staff, parents and volunteers.
Assists the Education Area Directors with the revision of the Early Childhood Development Area Program Plan and Procedures Manual.
Assists the Education Area Directors in coordinating with community agencies other resources and educational services.
On occasion interviews applicants for teachers, assistant teachers, custodians, and bus/campus aides.
Complies with the Confidentiality Policy and other employee policy requirements of the Program.
Must attend all trainings deemed necessary by the Executive Director to comply with the Child Care Regulation Child Care Minimum Standards and Performance Standards during the summer months.
Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or Executive Director.Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field.
A State of Texas EC-6 Teacher Certification and Bilingual Certification is required.
Must have teaching experience with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a supervisor or a coach in a Head Start Program.
Must be CLASS reliable.
Must have sufficient knowledge in the areas of child development, nutrition, health, special services, social services and management to perform work assigned.
Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Must have automobile and current liability insurance for work related travel.
