- Serves as an educational resource at the service level and for core hospital activities. Assesses, plans, develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates educational needs that are appropriate to target population. Works independently to develop curriculum for identified learning needs.
- Facilitates and coordinates individual learning plans.
- Promotes team approach to healthcare delivery. Facilitates effective patient education at the service level. Evaluates effectiveness of patient education.
- Develops and maintains new employee orientation program. Acts as clinical resource for staff. Communicates effectively with all levels of the healthcare team.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
- Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary
What are the pre-qualifications needed for this role in experience?
-5+ years of verifiable RN experience in an acute care setting.
-Master’s degree or clinical specialty certification
-Current State of Texas license/permit to practice professional nursing
Completion of Basic Life Support
-Preference for individual with project management and facilitation experience, and 3+ years of Neuro experience in an acute care setting (Education experience in this setting a plus).
-Preferred certifications: CNRN, SCRN
Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm at Westside campus. May need to occasionally provide weekend coverage (flex time). MHHS holidays are observed for team, but PTO requests during major holidays will be reviewed for approval to ensure adequate team coverage.
What is a day like for a Neuro service line educator?
i. Partner with service line leadership and campus education teams to develop education and resources in support of service line clinical performance, regulatory, and expansion needs.
ii. Lead system education projects and facilitate workgroups.
iii. Consult and collaborate with key stakeholders and workgroups on the educational processes and intervention.
iv. Identify, Develop, and Manage educational programs in support of service line strategic goals.
v. Initiate/facilitate communications with key stakeholders on a variety of clinical education needs.
vi. Review systemwide clinical practice gaps.
1. Identity if education or process gap exists.
Education Gaps: Lead system education need identification, gap analysis, planning, content development, and delivery.
Process Gaps: Collaborate with service line leadership and key stakeholders on process gap solution development and potential education needs.
vii. MHHS clinical education team on overlapping education programs and strategic initiatives such as:
1. System education classes.
2. System education projects and strategic initiatives.
Position responsible for developing, providing, and coordinating direct staff education, indirect patient education, orientation training, and development of curriculum and individual learning plans and monitoring staff.
