    • Must be highly qualified according to ESEA requirements.
    • Assists teacher by working with small groups or individuals as directed classroom teacher with teacher provided plans.
    • Prepares, files, and organizes learning materials.
    • Assists in setting up the classroom learning environment within school calendar year and/or school day and maintaining it include assisting in the preparation of teaching supplies and materials.
    • Charts or records specified behavior and information for individuals or a group of students which may include, but is not limited to, recording behavior points and filling out daily reports to parents.
    • Assists in maintaining and/ or restoring order in classroom, school building, and grounds by using non-offensive verbal mediation and/or physical restraint of students when necessary.
    • Assists the teacher in carrying out a reward and behavior management/modification system.
    • Participates in regular feedback and planning sessions with the SBH teacher.
    • Maintains control and discipline over students during times when the teacher or teacher substitute is outside the classroom.
    • Equipment and supplies to be used during the day and returns same.
    • Assists in administering assessment tests.
    • Assist in grading and correcting papers using guide provided by the teacher.
    • Carries out other duties as specified by the teacher.
    • Monitors disruptive and/or physically aggressive in isolation room and/or time out area.
    • Assists in supervising student behavior throughout the school day.
    • Assists in implementing both classroom behavior modification.
    • Implements individualized intervention plans as specified in each student’s I.E.P.
    • Corresponds and communicates with parents and other persons or agencies as needed when using emergency removal of students or when following up on other problems, such as tardiness or truancy, with truant officer, case workers, police department, etc.
    • Dispenses medications to students receiving M.D. – prescribed medication with the approval and authorization of building principal.
    • Miscellaneous classroom duties assigned by the teacher.
    • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
    • Excellent observation and communication skills
    • May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.
    • Assisting students with behavioral/management needs
    • Frequent evening and/or weekend work

      QUALIFICATIONS:
      1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
      2. Educational aide certificate.
      3. Experience working with children
      4. Ability to interact positively with parents and staff.
      5. Must be highly qualified according to ESEA requirements.

      REPORT TO: Preschool Director

      JOB GOALS: To aid in the implementation of the educational process.

      PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: To be assigned by the building principal in any combination of the following areas:
      1. Assists teacher by working with small groups or individuals as directed classroom teacher with teacher provided plans.
      2. Prepares, files, and organizes learning materials.
