- Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments including, but not limited to, reading, math and writing; functional academics; transition; social vocation. Reinforces previously learned concepts.
- Assists students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activities; works directly with students with a variety of special needs.
- Oversees and supervises students during classroom activities in library, on field trips and at lunch and recess, ensuring safety and security at all times. Supervises assigned students and escorts to various activities including, but not limited to job sites, community outings, playground, hallways, cafeteria, field trips, bus loading, and other places where students may gather as needed. May attend general education classes or job sites/volunteer sites to assist special education students in achieving instructional and behavioral goals and providing supplemental support.
- Assists students with tracking assignments.
- Implements Individual Education Plans (IEPs) at teacher’s request, when applicable.
- Plans daily educational activities for students under the direction of the teacher, when applicable.
- Attends to self-care needs of students including, but not limited to lifting, feeding, toileting and hygiene when needed, when applicable.
- Assists office staff and teachers with a variety of clerical duties including answering telephones, routing telephone calls or messages to appropriate staff, filing, typing, duplicating materials and operating general office machinery including photocopy machines, computers and fax machines.
- Assists staff with record keeping, copying, filing, grading assignments and taking attendance.
- Assists teachers and students with progress monitoring, formative and summative assessments as directed by the teacher.
- Tests and evaluates students’ abilities and progress as directed by teacher.
- Maintains safe environment for students at all times.
- Follows prescribed daily schedule as outlined by the teacher.
- Assists the teacher in the set-up and maintenance of the classroom, materials and supplies.
- Assists the teacher in scheduling appropriate meetings and completion of paperwork.
- Assists the teacher in developing educational materials (copying, typing, laminating, etc.).
- Assists students with managing behaviors and resolving conflicts.
- Participates in meetings with teacher and other support staff using appropriate social skills, problem solving and conflict resolution strategies.
- Maintains discipline in the absence of the teacher during classroom activities in a variety of school settings ensuring safety at all times.
- Evaluates student injuries, determines course of action, performs minor first aid and completes required paperwork in compliance with District policy(ies).
- Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
- Maintains current certification in District-adopted behavior intervention/support system (e.g., MANDT, OIS, CPI, etc.) when applicable.
- Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and community.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.
- Completed 2 years of college or hold an Associate or higher degree, or successfully passed the local Paraprofessional Academic Assessment

PAY RANGE: $16.17 - $19.88/hr.
Benefits include: District-paid premium for medical, vision and dental HSA-compliant plans. District pays PERS and contributes to HSA annually for full-time employees.
CONTRACT LENGTH: 182 days adjusted
