- Master’s degree in educational technology, instructional design, or related field
- Three years of experiences in one or more of the following: learning management systems, educational learning technologies, instructional design, and online teaching in higher education
- Knowledge of learning theory, pedagogical practices, and digital and online learning
- Strong grasp of effective practices and research in digital teaching and learning in higher education
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs and services
- Ability to think and act strategically
- Strong interpersonal skills including verbal/written communication, listening, mediation, problem solving, decision making, and assertiveness
- Ability to facilitate groups of various backgrounds and difficult conversations
- Demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Strong writing and editing capabilities
- Advanced understanding of effective practices in leveraging learning management systems and associated learning technologies across various teaching modalities
- Advanced skills in Canvas learning management system and associated third-party tools (Google, Zoom, Microsoft)
- Experience with media creation and dissemination through Microsoft suite, Adobe suite, and YouTube
- Ability to track metrics and apply assessment outcomes in a continuous improvement model
- Project management skills
- Knowledge of UX/UI design in courses and Universal Design for Learning principles
- Understanding key performance indicators of student success
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience with emerging technologies such as learning analytics and generative artificial intelligence
- Develops, coordinates, implements, and assesses educational development programs to meet the needs of the University with an emphasis on the use of the university’s learning management system (CANVAS) ensuring that all programming meets predetermined standards and that materials are standardized in their design and instructional delivery
- Ensuring content meets accessibility standards
- Supports the design and development of Canvas courses, template testing and provisioning, and the integration of third-party tools
- Analyzes program data and statistics for reporting, tracking progress, and adjusting programs focused on the digital learning environment internal and external training/development
- Offers, facilitates, and delivers, in multiple formats, educational development opportunities and related events focused on digital learning
- Reviews peer institution best practices and makes recommendations to improve the uptake and use of the digital learning environment
- Support digital learning environment operations including cross-team training communication, outreach, resource creation, templates, and ticketing system
- Oversees resource creation and content creation/delivery
- Supports the learning management system and associated tools to improve faculty and student success.
- Works in collaboration with Center and university staff to support learning analytics
- Works closely with the digital learning technical support teams to provide support for digital learning tools, create/maintain documentation, resolve issues, and ensure proper feature functionality through testing and quality assurance
- Provides consultations at the university, departmental, program, course, and individual level on a variety of teaching and learning topics/issues pertaining to the digital learning environment providing feedback, support, and assistance
- Collaborates with colleagues on creating, revising, and implementing effective educational development tools and delivery of content
- Models ethical consulting practices
- Mentors and supervises student employees working in the Center
- Advocates for, leads, and facilitates change that aligns with the Center’s and university’s strategic focus areas
- Models best practices of educational development as demonstrated by peers internal and external to the university
- Promotes the practice of scholarly teaching and effective practices for educational development.
- Brokers relationships and partnerships with other units, internal and external to the university
- Contributes to the unit's strategic plans, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Conducts, contributes to, and disseminates research on national dialogues and publications related digital learning
- Assists faculty in establishing research designs to assess effectiveness of teaching and identifying means to share their educational scholarship
- Co-authoring as the collaboration warrants
- Assists and collaborates with faculty and other educational developers on grants and research projects in discipline(s) and in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL)
- Facilitates learning communities related to teaching and learning with a focus on the digital learning environment
- Serves and participates in university task forces
- Develops, enhances, and implements annually, a personal professional development plan by assessing personal knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Participates in programs (workshops, conferences, etc.) and research to enhance job skills and to support a personal professional development plan that increases knowledge and expertise in the field of educational development as well as learning technologies and analytics
- Enhances facilitation skills via experience and observation

What We Want
The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) is seeking an Educational Consultant with a strong background in the use and support of the Canvas learning management system (LMS), experience in educational development and resource creation, and awareness of technology use at peer institutions. The Educational Consultant is a key member of the CTE and will participate in a highly-collaborative, dynamic workplace which includes daily interactions with other teams and departments that support LMS training, educational development, and operational functions (such as support, technical implementation, and testing). This position will enhance teaching excellence, advance faculty success, and improve student learning primarily through the promotion of the effective and efficient use of the Texas A&M University learning management system. A successful candidate will have a deep working knowledge of Canvas and excellent communication skills.
