- Identifies best strategies for engaging community stakeholders including youth. Establish relationships with community members, including individuals and community groups/organizations. Works with Community and Youth Engagement Committees and Domains at the UAB hub site and in the PPN. Develops and utilizes surveys, focus groups, semi-structured interviews and other methodologies as needed to better understand community perspectives. Develops and submits monthly plans for and reports of outreach activities.
- Works with PPN Domain Leaders and Community Engagement Leadership to conduct training for PPN personnel, Community and Youth Engagement Committee members, and hospitals/EMS/community providers related to community engagement. Identifies and/or creates written and web-based training resources related to disaster preparedness and community engagement for PPN stakeholders.
- Facilitates meetings of the Community and Youth Engagement Committees, domains, and the Youth Advisory Board, including development of agendas, and distribution of minutes and action items. Ensures continued participation of members by serving as a resource for questions and concerns. Facilitates relationships between Committees, Domains and the larger PPN.
- Attends Community Engagement Domain meetings of the PPN and of the UAB hub group. Assists Community Engagement Leadership with strategic planning. Gathers information and data related to Community and Youth Engagement Committees. Prepares reports. Represents UAB at PPN meetings and community events.

Serves as an educational liaison and provides oversight for various projects initiated by internal organizations or departments. Related activities may include recruiting, establishing relationships, and making presentations to various internal departments and external organizations. Develops and submits an annual plan for outreach activities. Conducts department specific outreach meetings. Assists in developing proposals for projects. Develops and revises educational materials for departments, vendors and the community. In conjunction with the Director, develops and reviews mini surveys to solicit input related to training and core curriculum effectiveness. Maintains updated educational information on departmental website.
This position will serve as a liaison for community engagement within the Pediatric Pandemic Network (PPN) which includes providing education and eliciting input and information from community members. The liaison is responsible for managing the data and communication between institutions and community citizens. The liaison will coordinate with the community to talk about their needs, concerns and develop potential strategies. The liaison is also responsible for directing community members to resources with plans on improving social determinants of health and disparities. They will also provide oversight for various projects initiated by the Principal Investigator and Program Manager for the PPN.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Experience: Experience in complex clerical duties, organizing virtual meetings and programs, writing reports, expertise with Microsoft Office Suite and Canva
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, organizational written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create and execute a plan, use technology and be comfortable in a variety of settings.
Salary Range; $52,555 - $65,000
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Currently licensed with a Driver's License from the State of Alabama required.
