Educational Paraprofessional (EPP) / Personal Care Assistant (PCA)
Status: Full Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday - 7.5 Hours/Day, 190 Days/Year
Salary: This paraprofessional position follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule (HS Diploma: $25,840 or High School plus 48 college credits: $28,025)
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Capital Area Intermediate Unit is seeking a highly motivated Educational Paraprofessional in an Emotional Support Classroom at Hill Top Academy to work in a school-age, special education classroom.
The successful candidate will be able to work as a member of an educational team, work independently at the direction of the CAIU teacher, and provide classroom supports to students and staff. The EPP/PCA will assist the student(s) as they complete educational and behavioral goals, will help with record keeping, and maintain collaborative relationships with school staff. It is necessary to help with instruction, behavior, busing, lunch, recess, and the preparation, cleanup and arrangement of classroom materials.
KNOWLEDGE & REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with children with disabilities, and/or children with emotional disibilities preferred; Must possess a high school diploma or GED; Previous experience working with special needs population desired; Must have ability to follow written and oral instructions
Highly qualified status preferred; Will require certification in Safe Crisis Management, First Aid/CPR/AED (training provided).
