      Environmental Resources Management (ERM) is a leading global provider of environmental, health, safety, risk, social consulting services and sustainability related services.

      We are looking for an experienced Environment, Health and Safety Consultant to join our Safe and Sustainable Operations team. You will be seconded to one of our large clients in the technology sector to support them in delivering on their EHS management programmes. This will be based in, or close to, London. The need is currently for 3 full days days per week, however we can consider people who would rather work 4 days or even full time.

      We will consider suitable candidates who would rather a fixed-term contract on a project basis as opposed to a permanent role, and also those who are seeking a part-time role of three days per week.

      Key responsibilities include:

      • Provide guidance on the implementation and functioning of corporate EHS programs and management systems including business continuity, social responsibility reporting issues, audit program management and compliance assurance throughout client facilities.

      • Evaluate and provide guidance on client operations for compliance with EHS and other relevant requirements.

      • Provide technical resources and interpretations of EHS regulations to client and provide instruction regarding compliance activities.

      • Respond to requests for information regarding client EHS management systems.

      • Support client in liaison with local, state, and federal governmental EHS agencies.

      • Prepare local compliance documents, submittals, authorizations and regulatory submission and notifications as relevant to client operations when needed, as directed by client to comply with all local, state and federal EHS regulatory requirements.

      • Collect information on the environmental and occupational health aspects of client facility operations such as chemical usage, storage, disposal, air emissions, hazardous waste management, electrical safety, indoor air quality, and occupational noise for reporting to client EHS Department.

      We are looking for knowledgeable, motivated and flexible candidates with an industrial and/or consultancy background. This person will have experience of a similar role, ideally within the TMT or sustainability sectors. Prior experience of working within a consultancy environment is also beneficial. This role entails being the main point of contact for this client and so there will be some management responsibilities involved also.

      The successful candidate will be required to have relevant BSc and or MSc degree(s) as a minimum, and relevant EHS qualifications will be considered too.

      Prospective candidates should have a professional and positive approach, be solutions minded and have great project management, organisational and communication skills and be keen to further develop their technical skills in a consultancy environment.

      Strong technical knowledge covering EHS topics is required as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the UK EHS regulations and their practical application – knowledge of EU regulations is also helpful as well as awareness of broader sustainability matters (e.g. CSRD), but not essential. Audit and assurance experience is also desirable to support with the delivery of audit and assurance programmes.

      We are also looking for individuals who can display strong team-working and interpersonal skills with the confidence to interact with all different levels within a client organisation, together with the proven ability to write clear, well-articulated reports and deliver impactful presentations.

      Fluency in English is essential and proficiency in additional languages would also be advantageous. Candidates should also be keen to travel as there may be travel requirements and opportunities within and outside the UK.
