- Observe and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with company safety standards as well as all local, state and federal guidelines.
- Investigate incidents to completion by identifying cause and determine detailed proactive measures to prevent such instances in the future.
- Analyze and recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.
- Conduct safety training or education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.
- Assist in the maintenance of current hygiene programs, such as noise dosimetry surveys, atmospheric monitoring, ventilation surveys, or lead abatement plans.
- Ensure the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, or other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance.
- Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and participate in the development of materials for these presentations.
- Ensure that company, vendors and employees are in compliance with the Global Harmonization System.
- Maintain emergency response plans or procedures.
- Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
- Collect data samples of various materials for occupational health data collection.
- The ability to handle minor medical treatment and properly triage complex medical injuries or industrial incidents.
- Conduct environmental inspections to maintain current permits for state and federal regulations
- Have the ability to perform/assist with all EHS Coordinator and EHS Technician Level I responsibilities.
- Must have the knowledge needed for filing workers compensation claims and investigations.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, Maritime, hazard communications, accident investigation and safety training methods) and environmental regulations (EPCRA, CAA, CWA, and SARAIII).
- Currently holds are has the ability to hold a OSHA Training Institute Certification for instructing OSHA 10 & 30 Hour Maritime course
- Candidates with a degree of study in Occupational Safety & Health or closely related field of study is strongly preferred.
- NREMT Basic skills certification preferred, must have the ability to gain certification as well as CPR/AED completion
- CSP/ASP Certifications are preferred
- Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 6 years job-related experience pertaining to safety, healthcare, or management desired.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 is preferred.
- Bilingual language skills (oral & written) a plus

Job Description
C Shift Position Days/Hours: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 5am - 5pm CST
Position Summary
An EHS Technician (Level II) has the ability to self-support the Environmental Health & Safety function at our facility. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront across our vast facility. A Level II Technician is able support the 1,000+ working men and woman on our waterfront by passionately pursuing innovative and effective safety solutions that focus primarily on employee well being, manufacturing efficiency and environmental awareness. Personnel is this position are sole source operators and capable of handling multiple mainstream issues at a time.
