- Responsible for the planning, execution, and results of the following election processes:
- Election creation in the Dominion system, which includes ballot image generation
- Election Testing to demonstrate the correct configuration of the Dominion election project, including the public Logic and Accuracy Test
- Ballot counting (scanning, adjudication, tabulation, reporting, reconciling, and ballot storage)
- Post-Election audit
- Team with others in reconciliation to ensure results are accurate, complete, and reconciled to vote credit, ballot reception, and ballot processing.
- Ensure compliance with Colorado statute and rule as well as Clerk and Recorder policies.
- Document work accurately and thoroughly, including creating and maintaining procedural documentation.
- Coordinate with supervisor to ensure data, results, and reports are accurate for the communication with members of the Canvass Board, State, and public.
- Ensure voting system components are updated, maintained, tested, and secure.
- Support Cyber Security best practices and recommend improvements.
- Train and supervise a team of 15-40 temporary workers responsible for scan room processes and adjudication during election time.
- Communicate technical information to audiences with varying technical backgrounds.
- Act as a backup for peers, learning essential technology and procedures in other areas to support critical functions.
- Support and collaborate on special projects outside of the elections cycle, improving processes and systems within the scope of elections, including the implementation and development of technology solutions and county applications and tools.
- Perform additional related work as required.
- May be reassigned during emergency situations.

The Boulder County Clerk and Recorder's Office is currently seeking an Elections Technology Specialist – Voting Systems. This position is accountable for oversight of the voting system, which includes preparing, maintaining, and testing the equipment and ballots for elections, as well as tabulation of ballots during election. Additionally, this position is responsible for training and supervising election temporary staff to support ballot scanning and adjudication operations. The Technology Specialist will also be responsible for maintaining or creating procedural documentation related to the role. As part of the Technology Division, this role is also responsible for providing technology support to other elections team members and helping to improve applications and processes throughout the year.

About the position
This position will be responsible for ensuring voting system components and processes are compliant, accurate, efficient, secure, and transparent. This includes a variety of tasks to ensure our team provides accurate and timely elections results, and to ensure the success of post-election audits.
The ideal candidate will have experience with technical or data-driven projects, and be able to effectively integrate, plan, execute, and balance the outputs from a variety of data sources, data formats, and processes. Successful applicants will be comfortable in a high-stakes, team-focused work environment. We seek a person who is eager to learn, is process-oriented, and motivated to do meaningful work that facilitates the democratic process.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, enjoys actively participating in a collaborative environment, and possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills. They have the demonstrated ability to use complicated software, perform advanced tasks in MS Excel and Access, learn and apply new skills effectively with minimal support, and communicate technical information (written and verbal) to nontechnical personnel. Additionally, the ideal candidate can demonstrate creativity and innovation through problem-solving. Ability to work effectively under pressure while remaining positive and flexible is also key to success.
This position is expected to build strong working relationships with team members, vendors and stakeholders and be committed to Boulder County and Clerk and Recorder guiding values, including equity and inclusion.
This position will require overtime, nights and weekends during election season and is subject to periods of time when vacation scheduling is not allowed (because of the election calendar). This is a full time, benefited position. This position will work Monday - Thursday from 7:00am - 5:30pm (10-hour day). This is a hybrid position, working from home as well as at 1750 33rd St., Boulder, CO 80301. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) this position is exempt.Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range : $72,360.00 - $88,284.00 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month. Boulder County offers bountiful benefits , including pension contributions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of at least seven years of combined education and professional experience in a technology-related capacity as it applies to this position.
