      At Georgetown’s Electric Utility, we’re passionate about powering our community—and we’re looking for equally enthusiastic students to join us! This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the key accounts and distributed energy resource processes of a municipally owned electric utility.

      The Electric Utility Strategic Planning Intern will work under the direction of the Customer Energy Solutions Manager and collaborate with departments across the utility. The primary focus of the internship will be supporting the utility’s strategic initiatives by helping track progress, organize data, and assist in implementing key tactics outlined in the Customer Energy Solutions strategic plan.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      • Assist in monitoring and tracking progress of strategic plan goals and tactics.

      • Assist with the implementation of a new CRM for the Key Accounts group

      • Assist with Customer Education Materials for new Energy Efficiency and Conservation programs

      • Assist with the roll-out of the new Distributed Energy Resource program roll out

      • Compile and analyze data using Microsoft Excel and related tools.

      • Participate in meetings with electric utility staff, learning about the electric portfolio, financial forecast, and key account functions.

      • Support meeting preparation by helping with agendas, summaries, and visual aids such as PowerPoint presentations.

      • Perform other related duties as assigned.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
      Education, Training, and Experience

      • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university or recently graduated (within the past 6 months).

      • Completed at least enough credit hours to be classified as a junior.

      • Preferred majors include Public Administration, Business, Engineering, Finance, or related fields.


      Knowledge & Skills:

      • Familiarity with utility operations or interest in community-owned electric utilities.

      • Curious, organized and interested in strategic planning.

      • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

      • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

      • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

      • Comfortable working independently and in a team setting.

      • Experience with task tracking tools (like Monday or Trello) is a plus.

      • Strong attention to detail, enjoy working with spreadsheets, timelines and data.

      LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
      Valid Class "C" Texas driver’s license required. Out-of-state license holders must have a valid license and provide a three-year driving history.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
      Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, vision, hearing, talking.

      EMPLOYMENT TESTING:

      Employment is contingent on passing post-offer, pre-employment drug testing, criminal background investigation and driving record check.

      Schedule: flexible, 24 hours per week

      Hiring Range: $20.00, hourly.
