Job Description
Function
Under direction perform a variety of various machines operations and equipment utilized to braid and/or cover a wide variety of electrical and Avionics Systems harnesses, assemblies, cables, wires, etc.
Typical Responsibilities
Under general direction, perform operations necessary to prepare harnesses, assemblies, cables and wires, etc. for covering operations.
Operate machines and equipment to provide protective coverings to meet customer specifications.
Examine each assembly to determine appropriate drop off points; identify and mark points prior to removal from assembly board.
Remove and transport assemblies to testing and preparation areas, perform preparation operation to ensure quality standards are maintained.
In braiding assemblies determine the number of picks per inch, establish gear ratio, and adjust machine tension to avoid breaks in materials used and provide quality covering.
Remove pigtails as necessary and perform reverse braiding and overlapping per required specifications.
Hand feed or draw material through machine operations making adjustments as necessary.
Use standard test equipment to check continuity of braiding.
Perform necessary operations to ensure protective coatings are correctly assembled and termination points and coverings are properly secured, including clamps, shrinkable tubing, and/or molded coverings.
Finalize assemblies for inspection, and perform necessary rework.
Perform simple maintenance of machine such as cleaning, oiling, replacing worn parts, resolving malfunctions, and resetting of machine/or equipment.
Maintain documentation of operations performed.
Work out of department as required.
Check all backshell and connector characteristics prior to product leaving area.
Refer only unusual situations or problems to working leader or supervisor.
Segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.
Perform other related or similar type duties as required, including moving parts and materials around area.Desired skills
Requires knowledge of electrical assembly and a short training course may be required to provide special training in electrical or electronic assembly, and machines or equipment used in covering operations. Must maintain current certification(s) as required.

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
