What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Serve as a subject matter expert for electrical engineering matters within a federal agency’s technical division
- Deliver engineering solutions for new construction and maintenance of existing projects related to DHS
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of design documents and provide technical recommendations
- Monitor project progress, ensuring compliance with specifications and engineering practices
- Collaborate with other professionals on facility development throughout planning, design, and construction phases
What is Required (Qualifications):
- 8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- A current Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, including drawings and specifications
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is a plus
- Experience with evaluating backup power requirements, including generators and solar solutions
- Active U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation (CBP BI) preferred
