- Performs electrical design calculations (i.e. low/medium voltage power distribution systems, lighting, security/fire systems, data/telecommunications systems, etc.), sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment.
- Performs site investigations.
- Coordinates project assignments with those of other Designers, Engineers and Project Managers in their team
- Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommends necessary changes.
- Researches code issues and works with City, State, and County officials.
- Researches design options and documents findings.
- Creates circuiting for power and lighting plans.
- Creates one-line diagrams and electrical room layouts.
- Performs load calculations and completes panel schedules for power and lighting plans.
- Performs voltage drop, short circuit, and arc fault calculations.
- Specifies appropriate luminaires and performs lighting calculations.
- Specifies appropriate details for projects.
- Designs low voltage and telecommunication systems and infrastructure.
- Takes written and verbal instructions/directions.
- Assigns drafting tasks to REVIT/CAD Operators.
- Prioritizes workloads and estimate timelines for completion in order to meet project deadlines.
- Attends kick-off and design review meetings and interacts with clients.
- Manages construction administration phase of project.
- Estimates hours to for tasks to assist in resource allocation.
- Advanced knowledge of Autodesk REVIT/AutoCAD.
- Advanced knowledge of planning electrical power and distribution systems.
- Advanced knowledge of Title 24 requirements and completing forms.
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Skills to interpret Architectural and Engineering documents.
- Skills to do lighting calculations with computerized software.
- Skills to perform advanced software based short circuit and voltage drop calculations.
- Skills to be capable of working on several projects simultaneously.
- Skills to prioritize work and delegate tasks.
- Ability to work within time schedule, project budget, and manage support staff to complete task in a timely fashion.
- Ability to provide and follow written and verbal directions/instructions.
- Ability to communicate with other team members.
- Ability to write and edit project specifications.
- Advanced understanding of the Building Codes.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Four years of firsthand experience in the design of all phases of power distribution, standby generation, lighting and auxiliary systems (i.e. nurse call systems, data systems, fire alarm systems, etc.).
- Four years of working experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be at the discretion of the Management and will be evaluated by Management.

Performs overall project electrical design with direction from Project Manager and Management regarding systems and requirements. Provide direction to team members for project development and electrical design of all systems.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
