      We are looking to hire a Electrical Engineer - Substations to join our Spain Team in our Madrid office and will play a central role in securing new business by managing and coordinating all aspects of proposal development, especially for public and private sector construction tenders. They will work closely with business development, technical teams, legal, finance and external partners to deliver compelling, compliant, and well-structured proposals.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
      • Minimum 7 years of experience in HV substation design and construction
      • Proven track record with transmission or utility-scale substations (132kV to 400kV)
      • Strong understanding of HV equipment and protection/control systems
      • Knowledge of applicable standards: IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NESC, or EN standards
      • Experience working LLE vendors and MEP contractors
      • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical drawings and schematics
      • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills
      • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken

      Responsibilities

      • Review and advise on substation conceptual and detailed design, including single-line diagrams, layout drawings, grounding, protection schemes, and control systems.
      • Support the design consultant selection process and manage technical interfaces between design teams.
      • Validate electrical system calculations (load flow, short circuit, insulation coordination).
      • Evaluate equipment specifications and vendor proposals for HV components (GIS/AIS switchgear, transformers, breakers, etc.).
      • Participate in design review workshops (e.g., constructability reviews, value engineering workshops).
      • Provide technical guidance during substation construction, installation, and testing.
      • Review method statements and installation procedures for electrical equipment.
      • Support troubleshooting of site issues related to design or installation inconsistencies.
      • Liaise with construction teams, OEMs, and commissioning engineers to ensure proper execution.
      • Participate in progress and quality inspections, ensuring design intent is preserved on-site.
