      This is skilled inspectional work in enforcing the National Electrical Code and local regulations governing the installation and operation of electrical systems and equipment.

      *Amended 10/07/2024Minimum Qualification Requirements

      Graduation from a standard senior high school, or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, supplemented by two years of trade school or college coursework in the electrical field and a minimum of three years journeyman level experience in the electrical field; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.

      Special Requirements

      Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence. Possession of a current master or journeyman electrician certificate issued by the State of Alabama or the City of Mobile (except in the Town of Creola, which does not require Electrical Certification).       Eligibles selected for appointment must meet the established medical and physical standards for the class of work. The medical examination must be by one of the physicians designated by the Personnel Board. Appointees must bear the cost of the examination.
