Job Description

- Electrical person responsible for electrical safety for LNGC facility.
- Review energized electrical work and seeks approval from the Chief Electrical Person.
- Responsible to ensure that the Electrical Safety Standard (ESS) orientation process is implemented for all workers.
- Ensure that all electricians, throughout the asset/facility are in compliance with the ESS.
- Ensure that workers exposed to energized electrical conductors or circuit parts are orientated, trained, qualified, and authorized to undertake the work task and concur with the Qualified Electrical Person (QEP) assessment of the worker.
- Validate competencies of QEPs
- Ensure that hazard identification and risk assessment of electrical work is completed, and procedures are used for completing the work.
- Ensure that electrical safety hazards are corrected promptly.
- Develop energized electrical work procedures and seeks approval of the procedure with the CEP.
- Ensure that electrical PPE, tools, and equipment are available for use, maintained and tested.
- Ensure that all electrical incidents are reported. Participates in all electrical incident investigations. Ensures that all corrective actions are implemented.
- Ensure the completion of orientations of the ESS are delivered to all workers as HSE1730 per Section 8.0.
- Acts in absence of the CEP, when delegated by the CEP.
- Implement the ESS orientation process.
- Support the work of QEPs with respect to implementation of the ESS. Perform or authorize QEPs to perform non-routine energized work tasks
- Have detailed knowledge of IEEE, NFPA, CEC, and other industry standards for project development and delivery.
- Ability to quickly understand LNGC design specialising standard requirements and provide clarification to QEPs when performing troubleshooting in the field.
- Provide electrical safety guidance to construction team
- Must be and experience in operating industrial or oil and gas facilities
- Interface with all stakeholders to ensure electrical activities are in accordance with the best practices, HSSE standards and Electrical Safety Rules.
- Perform corrective and preventative maintenance, repairs, alterations, and installations of various electrical systems, components, and equipment.
- Respond to, troubleshoot, and find solutions for complex and unique issues with various types of electrical equipment and systems.
- Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layout drawings.
- Troubleshoot distribution, and control equipment such as PLC’s, MV/LV-VFD’s, MCC’s, SCADA Network, switches, relays, circuit breaker panels, and fuse enclosures.
- Operate various electrical equipment such as switchgear MV/HV, Motor Control centres (MCC) MV/LV.
- Participate in development of electrical related preventative maintenance tasks and procedures.
- Strictly comply with various quality, electrical codes, related regulations, and standards.
- Identify parts and supplies using SAP
- Maintain various manuals, blueprints, and facility/field logbooks as required.
- Respond to call outs and emergencies as required.
- Complete training and participate in the LNGC training program as required by operations.

- HSSE: To act always in accordance with the Policy on Health, Safety and Environment and provide assurance activities accordingly. You must provide very visible HSSE leadership to your team and the Asset.
- Process Safety: Based on a sound knowledge of the HSSE case, actively link your position with execution of Asset Management System (AMS) processes of maintaining and providing assurance of relevant hardware barriers and Safety Critical Elements.
- Cost: Plan, manage and effectively utilize resources (own time, contractor time, materials) to ensure your work is done efficiently, to the correct standards, and within budget. Ensure availability of adequate budget, by accurately contributing to the Maintenance Reference Plan (MRP).
- Mentor: Actively coach and develop future talent in the LNGC organization for progression and to ensure continuity, minimizing dependency on professionals on assignment.
- Asset Management System (AMS): Actively participate in project task forces during Execute phase for AMS deliverables and manage AMS processes and tasks during Operate phase.
- Behavior: Actively participate in the culture of continuous improvement within an efficient self-contained, disciplined organization, in which everybody likes to work. Seek out and nurture partnership with communities, businesses and organizations in Kitimat and BC.
- Discipline skills:
- Project: Provides advice and guidelines to project team for safe and proper specification and purchase of electrical equipment.
- Develops, reviews, or approves the design, specializing, procurement and implementation of electrical related capital projects and plant changes.
- Verify adherence to electrical project standards and support technical deviations what needed.
- This position requires an individual capable of electrical specializing knowledge of principles and practices to brownfield project development.
- Must be capable of problem solving encountered on project development and design.
- The candidate must have experience as an electrical specialist on detailed design projects.
- Must have experience in hazardous area Classification.
- Must have an industrial or refinery, gas processing, chemical facility experience.
- Management of Change (MOC) and Deviation Management: Act as technical person in line with Global requirement on MOC and Deviation Management. Monitor and control of deviations from planned electrical activities for safety critical equipment.
- Support Root Cause Analysis or Causal Leaning Process for defect elimination within the asset. Coordinate implementation of recommended actions per improvement plan. Promote the culture within the electrical team.
- Compliance Audit and Assurance: Provide support to maintenance and integrity compliance audits and bench marking processes in line with global requirements. Conduct assurance activities for electrical.
- Integrity & Maintenance KPIs: Implement KPIs that drive achievement in terms of cost, efficiency, and Integrity. Promote electrical maintenance execution performance improvement based on the KPI’s.
- Spare/Material Management: Provide input into the operational spares requirement for all electrical maintainable assets using dominant failure modes and failure rates, best practices within the industry. Incorporate risk-based approach where applicable.
- Contract and Procurement: Manage contract effectively to ensure delivery of specialist services efficiently and safely.
- Diploma in electrical technician/technology or Journeyperson electrician with equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive technical support experience in oil and gas, heavy industry.
- Experience in both maintenance execution support teams.
- Proven track record of working within multi-discipline teams and demonstrable delivery of value to customers.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and able to recognize potential discipline opportunities / threats.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to listen well, good organizational skills, comfortable with change and being able to respond rapidly to it.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)

- During Operate phase, 40 hrs. per week, M-F
- During CSU phase may be asked to work 50hr per week (10hrs per day)
- Willing to work in inclement weather, that includes rain, snow, wind, and heat.
- Willing to climb stairs and be at heights, when in the field.

About the Role
The electrical specialist (SP) reports to the Electrical team lead and will support our LNGC engineering and maintenance electrical teams.
The electrical specialist will have the opportunity to work on Canada’s first LNG facility. The SP will work on voltages from 287kV down to 120V. LNGC’s power distribution system will be supplied by two BC Hydro 287kV transmission lines connected to our switchyard, we have new 69kV Gas insulated switchgear, Air insulated switchgear and motor control centers operated at 6.9kV built by Siemens.
Our low voltage system is 600V Switchgear and Motor control centre built by ABB. The electrical specialist will be trained to work on multiple large Adjustable speed drive (ASD) with a horsepower rating of 25,000HP, and smaller 600V ABB ASDs. The medium voltages drives are liquid cooled Siemens GH-150 units, and air cool applications. The electrical specialist will have the opportunity to start two 25000HP Boil off gas motors built by Siemens.
