- Position Summary
- Under the general supervision of the Electrician II and direction from the Team Leader, performs installations, repairs and does inspections in such a manner that ensures the safe, reliable and efficient operation of hospital equipment. Maintains the electrical distribution system, equipment, components and emergency power generation sets in accordance with hospital and departmental policies / procedures, and local community and governmental agencies. Accomplishes duties associated with maintenance, installation and renovations to comply with National Electrical Code NFPA 70, and the Standard for Health Care Facilities NFPA 99, complies with current Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital, Environment of Care.

- Core Job Functions
- Work orders and stat calls are responded timely. Responds to emergency calls per guidelines. Malfunctions are corrected in a timely manner.
- Switchgear is disassembled and inspected yearly. PM’s are conducted quarterly on magnetic starters. Safety alarms are maintained according to Hospital policy.
- Read blueprints, electrical drawings and schematics. Operate of a volt-ohm meter, amp meter, meg-ohm, equipment leakage tester, ground integrity and milli-volt tester.
- Equipment and/or system failures are reported immediately and department heads are notified in advance of potential shutdown of equipment that is pertinent to their areas of responsibility. Environmental changes which impact the patients are addressed promptly. Deviations from the normal operations required by emergency situations are communicated to the appropriate manager.
- Equipment is inspected, in accordance with departmental policy. Materials are obtained and equipment repairs are initiated as soon as possible. Supplies are used cost-effectively and waste minimized
