      The City of Seattle is seeking a journey level Electrician to join our team of highly skilled electricians in with whom you can learn and broaden your skill set, share your knowledge and expertise, and work together to provide high level facility support and customer service to City departments.

      The position reports to the Electrical Crew Chief within the Facilities Operations Division, which manages and operates approximately 100 buildings, including City Hall, the Justice Center, fire and police stations, and many other government and community facilities.

      • Diagnose and repair electrical equipment and control systems.
      • Install lighting fixtures, power outlets, and control devices.
      • Run conduit and pull wire for new and existing electrical installations.
      • Conduct preventative maintenance service on electrical equipment, including generators, automatic transfer switches, and UPS systems.
      • Review blueprints, electrical schematics, and electrical equipment specifications.
      Minimum Qualifications:
      • Completion of an accepted four-year apprenticeship training program; and
      • Journey-level electrician status (or an equivalent combination of education and/or training and/or experience)
      • Current, valid Washington State driver's license.
      Desired Qualifications:
      • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting motors, controls, and lighting systems.
      • Experience using personal computers.
      • Highly motivated and able to work both independently and as a team member.
      • Ability to communicate facts and ideas clearly, both orally and in writing, with a variety of vendors and City personnel.
      • Experience in thermography using infrared cameras.
      • Please submit valid/Current Washington State Journey Electrical License (EL-01).
      Work Environment/Physical Demands:
      • Works occasionally with electrically energized lines when power cannot be disconnected.
      • Works at heights with ladders, boom trucks or on catwalks.
      • Ability to stand, walk, crawl, or bend for extended periods of time.
      • Ability to work at heights on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.
      • May require handling or working with toxic and/or hazardous substances.
      • Ability to work overhead for extended periods of time.
      • May require lifting and handling of electrical materials.

      The full salary range for this position is $ 44.61 - $48.25 per hour.

      There will be several steps for this process including a written test and an interview process for those who are selected.

      All FAS positions require onsite work. Alternative Work Arrangements and hybrid telework schedules for work conducted in a normal office environment may be considered and will be based on operational needs and consistency with FAS policies.
