      Job summary

North West London Pathology (NWLP) is a partnership between Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trust and The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Trust. The partnership represents a new model for delivering Pathology testing in a modern, efficient operation that manages over 25 million tests per year. Our services are delivered at six hospital sites across North West London.

      Main duties of the job

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen within the Electron Microscopy (EM) laboratory, which would be ideally suited to a motivated and enthusiastic individual with an eye for detail and an appetite to develop their skills.

The EM team is a small, friendly and tight-knit group based at Charing Cross Hospital dedicated to providing a highly expert diagnostic service predominantly for the West London Renal and Transplant Service. We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, motivated and passionate individual to join our busy EM Team. If you enjoy working as part of a small team, have proven ability to multi-task, are a self-starter and a supportive team-player this is a rare and fantastic opportunity for you.

We are taking a flexible approach with recruitment into this niche field; experience in Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) is advantageous. However, we would be willing to consider applications from HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with a histology background who have a desire to up-skill. For individuals who do not have HCPC registration, a commitment to gain HCPC registration within agreed timescales and the successful applicant will be supported through this process. For HCPC a registered Scientist, a commitment to complete a Specialist portfolio in Cellular Pathology within an appropriate timeframe would be required.

      About us

Benefits include career development, flexible working, staff wellbeing programmes, staff awards and recognition scheme. We also have available benefits including cycle to work, car lease schemes, season ticket loan or membership options for onsite leisure facilities.

      NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
