      Description

      Caterpillar’s Integrated Components and Solutions Division is currently seeking a Systems Integration Engineer in the Gas Engine Systems group. As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical development and integration of our software and electronics into gas engine systems (Natural Gas, Propane, etc. not Gasoline). Key areas include in-cylinder pressure sensing, detonation, gas valves, and gas ECMs. You will be a critical part of the delivery of gas engine electrical systems used in EP and Oil and Gas applications. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, keep our team aware of technology, and deepen your professional network. Responsibilities include following the New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI) development processes for product development including requirements capture, change management, system development & integration, validation, and production readiness.

      Job Duties

      • Electronic hardware and software integration in complex engine system projects spanning across multiple engine platforms.
      • Deliver integrated and validated electronic systems for gas engines.
      • Coordinate product tests with prove design and prototype build up and test areas.
      • Prepare concept, design, development, and feasibility studies of complex engineering projects.
      • Collaborate with Mechatronics, Harness design, Electronic Component design control, service engineering, TCL, gas platform team in Lafayette to capture incoming system requirements and to communicate requirements to our internal process partners.
      • Drive alignment with electronic component teams ensuring proper resources, velocity, and quality
      • Ensure all testing and validation activities are planned and worked adequately to ensure the highest levels of quality
      • Present in NTI Technology Readiness Level and NPI Design Reviews.

      Basic Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Computer, or Agricultural Engineering with 2+ years of engineering work experience.

      Top Candidates will also have

      • Engine systems experience.
      • Experience with gas engine systems.
      • Experience with in-cylinder pressure sensing, detonation, or gas valves.
      • Experience with NTI (New Technology Introduction) / NPI (New Product Introduction) projects
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Strong technical skills
      • Strong communication skills
      • Ability to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines
      • Ability to communicate with customers positively and effectively (internal and external), to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments

      Additional Information

      The location for this position is Mossville, IL

      Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
