      Who We Are

      The Texas A&M University Cyclotron Institute, a Department of Energy University Facility, is jointly supported by DOE and the State of Texas and is a major technical and educational resource for the state and the nation. At the Institute, we focus on conducting basic research, educating students in accelerator-based science and technology, and providing technical capabilities for a wide variety of applications in space science, materials science, analytical procedures and nuclear medicine.       The Electronics Technician II will be responsible for installing, operating and repairing a variety of electronic equipment used for research, instructional, or plant operation activities.       What You Need to Know

      Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.

      Required Education and Experience:

      • High School Diploma or any equivalent combination of education and experience

      • Four years of related experience as an electronics technician

      Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Knowledge of test equipment, spectrum analyzers, digital voltmeters, oscilloscopes, radio test equipment, meters, signal generators, amp meters, voltmeters, and other digital instruments

      Preferred Education and Experience:

      • Associates Degree/vocational school

      Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Ability to operate forklift, overhead crane ad operate and repair electrical switch gear

      • Ability to repair power supply

      Responsibilities:

      • Electronic Circuitry Repair: Troubleshoots and repairs electronic circuits using necessary equipment.

      • Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Repair: Repairs mechanical and electrical equipment as required.

      • Preventative Maintenance: Performs preventative maintenance and instructs students on the accurate use of equipment.

      • Design and Fabricate: Helps design and fabricate electronic equipment.

      • Documents Repair and Design: Document, repair and design electronics systems using AutoCAD and/or pCad as required.

      • Procedure Establishment: Establishes and oversees standard operating procedures.

      • Research Task: Performs research tasks and performs other duties as assigned.
