      This is an open recruitment to establish an eligibility list to fill the current vacant positions for the 2025 - 2026 school year.

      The eligibility list will also be used to fill any vacancies which may occur within a period of one year, or until the eligibility list is depleted.

      Current positions work 204 days per year at a school site; anticipated hours will be 2 - 3 hours per day, five days per week. The recruitment process will consist of a training and experience evaluation and a structured interview.


      BASIC FUNCTION:
      Under the direction of the Principal, patrol and monitor campus activities to assure the safety and security of students, staff and visitors in non-classroom activities.

      DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
      This classification is distinguished from the Campus Safety Assistant in that the scope of responsibility is limited and incumbents are assigned to elementary schools. Elementary Campus Monitors are responsible for monitoring students during designated non-instructional time while Campus Safety Assistants provide safety, security, and enforce and assure student compliance with school and District rules, regulations, policies and procedures.Monitor campus, assuring students are safe, orderly, secure and within supervised areas; monitor lunch areas, walkways, restrooms, parking lots, grounds and adjacent streets and areas.

      Monitor student behavior and activities, breaks, lunchtime and before/after school; assure students arrive to class in a timely manner.

      Report incidents involving students and the public to appropriate staff, faculty or administrator.

      Provide general information, assistance and guidance to students and authorized visitors.

      Provide assistance in lunch areas, including wiping lunch tables and stacking lunch trays for recycling as appropriate.

      Report safety, sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate personnel; respond to emergency situations as needed; administer basic first aid to students and staff as necessary.

      Maintain routine records related to incidents and daily activities.

      Lock and unlock doors and gates as appropriate.

      OTHER DUTIES:
      Perform related duties as assigned.

      KNOWLEDGE OF:
      Basic methods of individual and group supervision.
      Basic interests, attitudes and emotional development of adolescents.
      Oral and written communication skills.
      Health and safety regulations.
      Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
      Basic record-keeping techniques.
      Basic first aid and CPR procedures.

      ABILITY TO:
      Monitor campus activities to assure the safety and security of students during non-classroom activities.
      Learn, interpret, apply and explain rules, policies and regulations.
      Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
      Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
      Maintain routine records related to assigned activities.
      Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines.
      Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
      Observe health and safety regulations.
      Administer first aid and CPR.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
      Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.

      LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
      Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency.Candidates who meet the minimum requirements, as demonstrated in their application materials, will be required to successfully complete a competitive testing process to measure the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job, which may consist of a written examination, a training and experience evaluation, a performance examination, and/or structured oral interviews. The candidates achieving the top three ranks of the appropriate eligibility list will be referred for a final selection interview. The Eligibility List resulting from this examination may be used to fill vacancies in related job classifications for which no Eligibility List exists (Ed Code 45272).
