      REQUIREMENTS

      EDUCATION LEVEL:

      Two years of post high school education or higher, or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota, for designated Education Assistant positions.

      EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

      Desire to work with elementary aged children, experience with procedures desirable but not required.

      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

      Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent filing, grasping, and walking. Frequent balancing, bending over, carrying, climbing, crouching, holding, indexing, inserting, lifting, sitting, stamping, standing, stooping, ta lking, turning, writing. Also frequent repetitive motion of wrists, hands, fingers.

      OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

      The ability to work with frequent interruptions.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

      Library Education Assisant

      1. Supervises circulation of library materials.

      2. Re-shelves returned books and other materials in timely manner.

      3. Assists students in locating books and other materials as needed.

      4. Assists staff as necessary in locating materials.

      5. Processes new materials and files necessary cards.

      6. Mends books

      7. Supervises students with assistance of staff.

      8. Produces overdue notices, sends letters home, and assists in recovering overdue materials.

      9. Keeps card catalog up to date.

      10. Removes obsolete and worn out materials from shelves.

      11. Types purchase orders, keeps records on circulation and current class lists.

      12. Prepares bulletin boards and displays.

      13. May be requested by administration to transport students using personal vehicle.

      14. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

      Lunch Education Assistant

      1. Monitors and responds to student behavior at meal times.

      2. Reports incidents requiring discipline.

      3. Assists with playground equipment.

      4. Serves lunches, helps with clean up.

      5. Administers first aid.

      6. May be requested by administration to transport students using personal vehicle.

      7. Performs other duties as assigned.

      PAY INFORMATION

      Level G, starting at $17.85 per hour - click HERE to view the salary schedule.

      Pay Day: Last working day of each month.

      HOURS & FTE

      Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm with a 30 minute paid, on-site and on-call lunch

      1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, 9 months
