What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Provide embedded software engineering support at Eglin Air Force Base.
- Collaborate with government program offices to identify strengths and weaknesses within acquisition programs.
- Analyze software engineering challenges and identify tailored or integrated solutions.
- Examine cyber security methodologies and analyze FPGA hardware/software interface specifications.
- Create and apply new approaches to advance software engineering practices.
What is Required (Qualifications):
- BS with 8 years, MS with 5 years, or PhD with 2 years of experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Willingness to travel to various locations to support the SEI’s mission, with moderate travel requirements (25%).
- At least 75% of weekly effort must be onsite at SEI or customer facility.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
- Proficiency in software development languages such as C, C++, Ada, and/or firmware development languages like VHDL, Verilog.
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with developing or analyzing embedded software using modern Real-Time Operating Systems like VxWorks.
- Knowledge in machine learning and artificial intelligence methods and applications.
- Excellent reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and participate in multidisciplinary teams.
