      JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

      The Emergency Management Coordinator is part of the Office of Emergency Management (EM) within University Police and Public Safety. This position is responsible for developing a culture of preparedness and resiliency within the University through prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. The EM Coordinator is expected to collaborate and coordinate with diverse internal and external stakeholders to develop effective emergency plans and procedures, event plans, and business continuity plans.

      This position is designed to serve as the front-line representative of Emergency Management to the University community along with collaboration with all EM partners; this candidate will have specific geographic responsibilities within the commonwealth, requiring travel and collaboration with multiple campus locations.

      Main responsibilities include: developing, updating and maintaining Emergency Operation and Business Continuity Plans at various Penn State University locations; analyzing of Homeland Security planning requirements and trends and determining how to apply them to the University; conducting exercises of plans and procedures at various levels in accordance with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) standards and Clery compliance. The EM Coordinator will serve as the repository of these plans and ensure that all stakeholders are integrated into the development of plans, standard operating procedures, and University policies. Main responsibilities also include: responding to various locations in order to provide assistance during disasters and emergencies, as needed; building and fostering relationships with internal, local, county, state and federal partners; deploying and working special events, as needed, to include Penn State home football games. This individual will also conduct and coordinate trainings and event plans.

      The ability to have flexible work hours, and to respond and coordinate emergent situations is necessary. Within-state travel to campus locations will be required routinely. The successful candidate will be an innovative, highly motivated, independent leader, be able to multi-task and resolve issues by providing comprehensive solutions.

      This position will be filled at the Intermediate Professional or Advanced Professional level, depending on the final applicant’s experience and education. The Intermediate Professional requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education are required for higher level positions.

      This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

      This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

      A fingerprint background check will be required to work within the Police facility in addition to standard background checks.

      The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

      $61,800.00 - $102,300.00

      Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
