Location: Teacher Administrative Center (TAC), 3215 Cuming St., Omaha, NE 68131 Reports To: Coordinator of Recruitment & Retention Work Schedule/FLSA Status: 12 month / Exempt Salary Schedule: Starting Salary: $82,552.30 Salary credit may be awarded for applicable experience. Position Purpose: This position helps create a positive and productive workplace for Omaha Public Schools employees by improving satisfaction and enhancing the overall employee experience. This person is at the forefront of developing and spearheading employee retention programs for all job classifications. The role will involve connecting employees with resources to eliminate barriers to work, ensure consistent attendance, and optimize job performance and engagement. Essential Performance Responsibilities:Evaluates strategies, reviews available data, and builds relationships to manage current initiatives and identify, develop, and implement new strategies to positively impact staff retention for all employee classifications. Manages the District’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and work-life services. Assists individual employees in problem solving and connecting them to community and/or district resources to address barriers to work. Develops, implements, and monitors project/program-based grants that support employee retention and remove barriers to work. Assists with the planning and implementation of professional development for employee retention programs. Assists with succession planning for leadership positions to ensure smooth transitions and continuation of services to students and the District. Connects with employees within the first year of employment to promote opportunities for learning and growth in their role. Plans and coordinates district events to educate, foster connections, and positively impact staff morale. Designs and manages a strategic approach to onboarding, orientation, and integration of new staff, using a creative approach with available technology and other platforms to meet the needs and demographics of incoming new hires. Partners with administrative leaders to determine the appropriate onboarding and integration sessions for an optimal onboarding and integration experience. Manages the District’s wellness programs by promoting activities, collaborating with school ambassadors, and collecting data to identify needs. Collaborates with Staff Development to implement and monitor assigned programs. Provides training and education related to employee experience strategies and initiatives. Works collaboratively with appropriate staff members to gather and analyze data related to retention, professional development, recruiting, and other programs as assigned. Creates reports and presents on the effectiveness of professional learning and/or grants within areas of responsibility. Reviews and monitors survey data to detect patterns and concerns to address themes across the district proactively. Builds rapport with new staff during orientation sessions to offer support and alleviate the stress of transitioning into a new organization. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Bachelor’s degree in social work, education or equivalent, required; Master’s Degree preferred. Bilingual / Biliterate in Spanish preferred. Knowledge of District and Community resources to support employee needs. Familiarity with the educational sector is a plus. Experience managing change initiatives, to gain buy-in, promote, and engage staff. Ability to counsel, support, influence and coach professional and support staff. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to establish credibility, build trust, and develop positive working relationships with team members, vendors, leadership, and other professionals A creative mindset to develop engaging content for flyers, graphics, presentations, website pages, and internal announcements, Detail-oriented with the ability to collect, interpret, and summarize quantitative and qualitative data to provide regular reports to the leadership team. Strong ability to probe and correctly identify employees' needs/concerns to analytically problem-solve appropriate solutions. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and successfully manage the daily workload. Exhibits excellent work ethic, professionalism, cultural sensitivity, discretion, judgement, and confidentiality. Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with people from a wide range of diverse backgrounds including, ethnic, age, gender, educational, and socioeconomic groups. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Word, Powerpoint, and Excel; knowledge of all Microsoft Office products strongly preferred. Follows the standards of professional dress and appearance. Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by direct supervisor(s), and other Administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Equipment: This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. Must always comply with OPS’s guidelines for equipment use. Travel: Frequent travel within the metro area will be required. Occasional travel outside of the metro area may be required. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:Works in standard office and school building environments. Ability to work after hours as needed. Must have organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and use information from written materials and visual displays. Ability to work in standing/walking positions on a frequent basis throughout the work shift. Ability to bend, kneel, stoop and maintain balance while performing job-related tasks. Ability to work outdoors during outdoor activities. Additional demands may be required upon request from the Supervisor. Interrelations:Contact with internal and external stakeholders. Will be working under the direct supervision of department administration to complete day to day tasks. Will be working with a diverse population requiring the ability to handle all situations with tact and diplomacy. Must understand and respond appropriately to stakeholder needs while maintaining a positive attitude. Expected to interact with all internal and external stakeholders in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive service. Employee Punctuality and Appearance:In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave. Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator. All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Omaha Public Schools and is appropriate for their position. Terms of Employment:This position is treated as a full-time exempt classified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies, as those laws and policies may change from time to time. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative, then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.
