- Namibian citizenship.
- LLB, HR or IR related Degree.
- Admission as a Legal Practitioner shall be an advantage.
- 3-5 years' experience in an ER and/or Labour Law environment.
- Strong technical, conflict handling and analytical skills.
- Excellent networking skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Assertive self-starter with excellent communication, organisation and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high service levels.
- Provides full ER Consultancy service to OMNAM.
- Gives advice with regards to Discipline, Dismissal, Appeal, Retrenchment, Grievance, as well as Labour Commissioner matters.
- Ensuring compliance with Namibian Labour Law and regulations.
- Builds appropriate relationships with Trade Unions regarding organizational rights and collective bargaining.
- Draft charges for disciplinary enquiries, legal agreements and legal opinions.
- Ensuring extensive training for management in all business units and regions, with regard to all labour related legislative processes.
- Networking with corporate ER Consultants, Labour Lawyers and participate in professional bodies.

Summary:
We require an Employee Relations Consultant. This role is individually accountable for providing an overall, full Employee Relations consulting service to OMNAM. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through own efforts.

Responsibilities
Employee Relations Case Management
Investigate, and propose solutions for, very complex and/or contentious employee relations cases in liaison with line managers; coordinate the organization's response to legal cases brought by individuals; contribute to the preparation of legal submissions, and ensure all parties complete casework accurately and within deadlines.
Employee Representatives Relationship Management
Contribute to the management of relationships with employee representative organizations; build effective working relationships with senior trade union representatives and/or members of the works council; prepare and present briefing papers to support consultations and negotiations.
Internal Client Relationship Management
Contribute to the management of partnering relationships with internal clients, building effective working relationships and providing high-quality professional services to support in delivering business strategy and plans.
Information and Business Advice
Provide specialist advice on the interpretation and application of policies and procedures, resolving queries and issues and referring very complex or contentious issues to others.
Policies and Procedures Development
Contribute to the drafting of policies, procedures, and related guidelines within an area of expertise to meet defined key principles and ensure compliance with external requirements.
Stakeholder Engagement
Contribute to stakeholder engagement by identifying stakeholders; by finding out their needs, issues, and concerns; and by reacting to these needs, issues, and concerns, arranging meetings and events and drafting supporting materials to promote understanding and commitment.
Personal Capability Building
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
Document Preparation
Edit document in line with organizational style guidelines and prepare information for publication.
Data Collection and Analysis
Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
Operational Compliance
Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards. Or identify, within the team, patterns of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.
