      About the role

      The Zillow Group Legal and Compliance Department is looking for a skilled and experienced human resources or workplace investigations professional to join our employment team (“People Legal”) as an Employee Relations Investigator. This position will be responsible for working under the direction of People Legal to conduct investigations regarding potential violations of company policy in partnership with the HR team. Prior experience advising on or running employee relations investigations in an in-house environment is required. Additional experience and familiarity with the ADA, FMLA, and state and local equivalent requirements is preferred. In this role, you will:

      • Demonstrate an understanding of laws, regulations, concepts, and practices applicable to workplace investigations, accommodations, and leave, and advise the human resources team in partnership with People Legal, as needed.

      • Lead and run multiple prompt, thorough, fair, and timely investigations of complex employee relations issues in a fast-paced environment with little supervision, including intake meetings, background research, investigative interviews, and debrief meetings in partnership with stakeholders and with oversight from People Legal.

      • Prepare investigation summaries and convey ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, so that long-term solutions can be developed and applied.

      • Interact professionally and respectfully with diverse individuals, with an ability to discern systemic issues revealed during the investigative process.

      • Remain respectful, empathetic, and diplomatic in the face of difficult and uncomfortable situations and conversations surrounding an investigation.

      • Develop and deliver education programs and trainings about investigations to educate other employees on standard processes for investigations and enhance compliance.

      This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

      In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $80,900.00 - $129,200.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.

      In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

      Who you are

      • Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience work in employee relations, HR or as a workplace investigator, preferably in an in-house environment, including experience conducting investigations on complex and sometimes urgent workplace issues.

      • Ability to organize and track projects and investigations across multiple teams and functions.

      • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

      • Experience with exposure to highly sensitive and confidential information and an understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality, including legal and financial information.

      • Analytical ability and initiative.

      • Ability to anticipate and identify legal issues.

      • Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment.

      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
