      A day in the life...

      The Employee Services Representative (ESR) is an integral part of our People & Culture team and acts as the first point of contact to the department for all employment-related inquiries and transactions for faculty and staff at Brock University. Reporting to the Manager, People Systems & Projects, the ESR will provide exceptional customer service when responding to employee questions, employment-related requests and supporting the usage of the Workday HR information system (HRIS). You will be accountable for the accurate and timely processing of employee transactions within the HRIS, and will provide support for HR systems projects, including testing for system upgrades and changes, systems training and employee job aid maintenance.

      As the Employee Services Representative you will:

      • Receive and respond to employee questions related to their employment, general HR policies, confirmation of employment as well as support with Workday system access, self-service and resources;
      • Process system-based changes in the HRIS related to employment changes including processing new hires, transfers, change of status, and ending contracts in an accurate and timely manner;
      • Guide and support the University community through a variety of business processes in the Workday HRIS system including staffing processes such as hire and adding additional jobs;
      • Support system security and data integrity by completing duplicate management tasks;
      • Run audit reports on data to ensure accuracy, making necessary adjustments to correct errors;
      • Draft step-by-step instructions to support the development of job aids for end users;
      • Support system projects including implementation and testing of new modules, upgrades and process redesigns;
      • Provide administrative support for the People & Culture department including answering the phone, responding to general email inquiries and directing queries to the appropriate staff.

      What you need to succeed…

      • A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (e.g. business, human resources, office administration, etc.);
      • Previous administrative experience in a professional setting. Previous human resources experience will be considered an asset;
      • Strong proficiency in computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, database applications and HR systems, combined with an aptitude to learn new software;
      • Excellent customer service and the ability to interact courteously and professionally with a variety of individuals;
      • Strong oral and written communication skills;
      • Ability to exercise sound judgment, with tact and diplomacy;
      • Excellent organization skills, with a demonstrated ability to show a high level of concentration for the task at hand;
      • Excellent time management skills, with a proven ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced, changing environment under minimal supervision;
      • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative;
      • High level of accuracy and attention to detail;
      • Highly adaptable, flexible, and responsive.

      Preferred Skills:

      • Knowledge of University operations and departments.
      • Understanding of University policies and procedures.
      • Demonstrated experience in a public sector or educational environment.
      • Working towards CHRP designation.
      • Previous experience with Workday.

      Compensation Information:

      • Job Grade J, Salary Scale ($52,920.00 - $90,720.00)*;
      • Target Hiring Range: $52,920 - $57,000
      • This an 8-month, contract position.

      *The salary range indicated is representative of all positions evaluated at this level. Actual salary is determined by assessing related skills, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness, subject to available budget.
