Job summary
Part time 18.5 hours per week
We are looking for an enthusiastic personto provide an efficient and high quality ward-based clerical service supporting the staff responsible for inpatient care. Emphasis should be placed on confidentiality and efficiency; remaining calm, courteous and professional at all times.
Main duties of the job
Handle telephone calls and face to face enquiries from relatives, hospital staff and members of the Public.
Use computer skills and other clerical activity to perform the correct procedure for admission, discharge, transfer.
To be responsible for any information entered onto the computer whilst carrying out the duties required by the Trust.
Ensure all case notes are kept in good condition in accordance with trust procedures.
Ensuring that notes are kept tidy at all times, and photocopy relevant Trust documentation to ensure an adequate supply is available for ward use.
File investigation results and other documentation in patients' case notes in accordance with Trust policy.
Record all ward attendances by patients in accordance with strict procedural guidelines laid down by the Trust.
Booking appointments on the hospital patient administration system, as required.
Undertake mandatory training annually.
Attend annual staff development reviews in which training and development needs will be identified and planned.
Ensure regular attendance at team meetings as required.
Daily management of e-mail correspondence.
Maintain stationary levels for ward use.
Collate patient information as per Trust policy.
Record statistical data as required.
Ensure the maintenance of good relationships, communications, and teamwork with all disciplines within the ward/department.
