BHE Renewables develops and manages renewable projects, including solar, wind, geothermal and hydro, producing energy for both the wholesale market and for customers under long-term power purchase agreements. Purpose of Position
The energy market analyst supports power purchase agreement origination activities and the company’s long-term marketing strategies through continually performing and updating regional and project-specific contract pricing and structuring analyses and recommendations and market research. The energy market analyst also develops models and tools to estimate and forecast commodity market prices and price risks. This role will primarily support renewable customer initiatives and assembling internal and external pricing strategies and proposal materials.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
Responsible for volumetric and pricing analysis and structuring for third-party power purchase agreement origination activities by region and project (50%).
Develop tools for measuring and evaluating commodity price risks and other market risks. (15%)
Develop models and tools for forecasting short-term (day-ahead, real-time) power and natural gas prices (10%).
Assemble internal and external pricing strategy and proposal materials (15%).
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning (5%).
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned (5%).
!*!Energy Market Analyst I:
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or related field. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
One to three years of accounting or energy marketing/trading experience.
Energy Market Analyst II:
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or related field. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Three to Five years of accounting or energy marketing/trading experience.
Energy Market Analyst Sr:
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or related field. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Five or more years of accounting or energy marketing/trading experience.
Effective oral and written communication skills to transmit information accurately and understandably.
Superior analytical skills with experience in spreadsheets. Working knowledge of desktop computer systems and applications including databases and word processing.
Strong process and project management skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
