Job Description

- Conducting assessments of collection cases and taking initial steps by filing decisions, and registering judgments in compliance with the Act
- Conducting extensive background searches on debtors and locating or tracing assets using OSINT and other research techniques. Assisting with the revocation or variation of freeze orders as required. Participating in developing recommendations for collections plans or steps in collection proceedings
- Investing and gathering evidence to support collections matters
- Supporting counsel and the Collections team with aspects of court and Commission proceedings, including applications and examinations in aid
- Actively contribute to creating, editing, and refining documents, including court affidavits, correspondence, memos, notices, timelines, spreadsheets, charts, diagrams, presentations and analytical reports
- Assisting the Collections team with returning money to investors through Commission or court processes
- A diploma or certificate in securities regulation, business, accounting, paralegal, collections, investigations or other related areas and a minimum of 2 or more years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent research skills
- Ability to read and analyze financial documents
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical thinking and good judgment
- Strong organizational skills with and an eye for detail
- An aptitude for multitasking, an ability to manage multiple files
- Excellent knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365
- Proficiency in use of Excel for data analysis, including the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets
- Knowledge of the securities industry and securities legislation
- Experience with case management or evidence handling would be an asset

Job Overview
As the Enforcement Officer – Collections, you will support the Commission’s collections efforts by implementing plans for collections files which will include working with other Branches within Enforcement and with external counsel. The Enforcement Officer - Collections reports to the manager of Technology and Evidence Control and is supervised by the Senior Enforcement Officer - Collections.

Salary Range
$63,721 (minimum) - $79,654 (midpoint) - $95,584 (maximum)
The starting salary for this position will be determined considering the successful candidate’s relevant experience and education, salaries of other employees in the same salary range, market conditions and other relevant factors. Starting salaries are normally below the salary band midpoint.
